"A student says they returned a book but it still shows as borrowed"

What you might see: The student's loan list shows a book as active even though they say they already returned it.

Why this happens: The return was probably not processed in the system. Physically placing a book on the shelf does not update the system. A librarian must scan or process the return.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Return Books.
  2. Search for the book or the student.
  3. If the book appears as still checked out, process the return now.
  4. If the book cannot be found (physically missing), process it as "Lost" and assess a replacement fee, or investigate further.
